Bands that I guess might be considered powerviolence or fastcore/thrascore that I like are: Siege, Man is the Bastard, Destroy (not sure if this is considered crust though), Hummingbird of Death, and probably some others I don't know about, but I don't really like Charles Bronson.

Powerviolence was meant to be an answer against Grindcore by playing super fast Hardcore without metal influences (like Grindcore). So many bands are now mixing powerviolence and grindcore. What are your thoughts?

Powerviolence is a back to basics movement in hardcore, whereas grindcore is an outgrowth of peace punk / anarchopunk that was more influenced by things like power electronics and noise than crust. Sludge is basically just really slow crust punk, IMHO.

Anyhoo.. After discussing the differences between powerviolence and grindcore with a friend. We came up with the theory that they are both a combo of death metal and hardcore punk. Grindcore is slightly more "metal" and powerviolence is slightly more punk. Essentially powerviolence is a looser and more gnarly version of grindcore IMO.

Mincecore is a subgenre of grindcore, which is itself a crossover genre between death metal and hardcore punk. For the purposes of not making this article a million years long I'm going to operate under the assumption that you already have a passing familiarity with grindcore. Very short songs, very fast tempos, very loud guitars.

Grindcore powerviolence hardcore fastcore and powerviolence are styles of hardcore (there are many). The distinguishing elements of powerviolence are the abrupt tempo changes: blasts, twostep, sludgy breakdown for example.

Powerviolence takes the blueprints of hardcore punk and grindcore, but adds in extremely spastic song tempos. Often songs with a similar runtime and brutality to grindcore, suddenly change into extremely slow sludge metal riffs, and then back into fast grindcore.
