With the informations provided everyone should be capable of manufacturing diverse qualities of gunpowder ranging from basic, slowburning composites (not every application requires a fast product!) to black powder reaching or surpassing the performance of commercial grain.
Skylighter carries the three chemicals used in making black powder: Potassium nitrate. Charcoal. Sulfur. Although there are many formulas that can be used to make black powder, the "Waltham Abbey" black powder formula below is considered the standard by most black powder makers today. Loading the Mill. A cylindrical shell revolves around its axis to form the ball mill. Metal balls (or other grinding medium) are fed into the mill together with the components of black powder (potassium nitrate, charcoal, and sulfur) within the shell. Using a ball mill to make mixed black powder is a specific operation, but safety is crucial.
First of all, if your ball mill exploded in a neighborhood, you are going to jail! The only "safe" way is to "hypermill" each ingredient (dextrin with the charcoal) separately and then combine them to premeasured water to make a putty ball and screen it to make the grains. Dry and sort by mesh size. Don't take chances, don't break the law.

1. Fill the container with small metal balls. Most people prefer to use steel balls, but lead balls and even marbles can be used for your grinding. Use balls with a diameter between ½" (13 mm) and ¾" (19 mm) inside the mill. The number of balls is going to be dependent on the exact size of your drum.
I have never had a, " little mill" but once you get a mill dialed in with the correct media and charge with (dry) chems it doesn't take long to mill powder to it's peak power. some have tested powder every 1/2 hour and found that a correct mill will get it done in 2 hours. That's about what I let mine go. give or take a few.
It took me less than 10 minutes of labor, and basically most of that was making the pucks and corning the powder after the ball mill did it's thing for 24 hours. If I had a larger rock tumbler I could have probably made 10, or even 20 lbs of black powder with not much labor investment.
